The February 26, 2015 Prepare2Care Seminar "Response and Recovery from Violence and Trauma" with guest presenter Rev. Dr. Kate Wiebe, Executive Director for the Institute for Congregational Trauma and Growth (ICTG) was attended by over forty individuals with representation from local church staff, lay church leadership, school counselors, police and fire chaplains and others from the Lompoc community who serve youth and children.
The seminar addressed the emotional and spiritual impacts of violence and trauma on youth and children; the skills that are needed to effectively assist youth and children in recovery from violence and trauma; resources available to support recovery from violence and trauma; and the roles that churches, congregants and community members can play when the youth and children of their congregation and/or community are impacted by violence and trauma.
